Hello and welcome to Wildwood Creations! I am so happy you’ve come by to check out this month’s blog post about the Moon Phases. As you’ve probably seen, I’ve kind of been dedicating this month to the moon since I’ve been doing the Moon Deck March challenge, so I thought this would be the perfect kind of post to write for this month!

I think as a witch I’ve always been naturally drawn to the moon, and yes you can ask my husband. I’ve always stopped mid-walk during the evening no matter where we were and pointed excitedly up into the sky at the moon; telling him to look as I stood there in awe at its luminous beauty. Yes, I am one of those types. I think it comes with the territory of being a witch, and the more time I spent researching the moon and its phases, the more I became enthralled with it. Working with the moon like I have has given me the ability to work on my timing, which I am not the greatest at. I’ve always had issues with timing, and I know I spread myself pretty thin with my courses, my business, being a mom, and a wife but I have such a fascination with learning that I just can’t help but crave experience when it comes to what I am passionate about. There’s many advantages though to working with the moon, and if you’ve been a witch for more than 5 minutes you’ve probably heard of Drawing Down the Moon. This is not something I would urge new witches to try, but once you are at the point where you feel experienced enough, I highly suggest trying it. It is a fascinating ritual where you call the Goddess into your being, and if you are a solitary witch you can record yourself as you speak during the ritual, or even journal if you’d prefer. It’s a spiritual “high” that will last you at least for the entire evening, if not longer. Before attempting to try this though, I would suggest getting to know the moon phases a bit, and what each of them represent and how they can help you on a magical level.

Here, I will explain each of the basic moon phases, and go over what they can help you with and offer you while you’re on your spiritual path. First, we will start with the New Moon. The New Moon’s appearance will be barely visible to most. It will be a small sliver of a crescent. This is actually my favorite moon phase, because it is known for new beginnings, optimism, hope and faith. This is the time to cast intentions that will aid in bringing you success, desires, needs, etc. It is a perfect time for you to start a new business venture, a class, design a financial plan, even to work on conceiving a child. This is the time to plant the seeds of your dreams. Now, you can cast your preferred intention 3 days prior to the New Moon, three days after the new moon, or right on the night of the new moon itself. Don’t feel like if you have missed the night of the new moon, you’ve lost all opportunity this month. You have more than enough time to cast your desired intention, and the same goes for spell work during the full moon phase.

The next phase is the waxing moon. This is the time of the cycle where the moon appears to be “growing larger.” This is a wonderful time to explore your dreams, and it is also a perfect time to focus on what intention you’ve cast on the night of the new moon. Be sure to put in the work necessary to cultivate your desired outcome. Don’t leave it entirely up to wishing, because you need to give the universe pathways so that you can receive what you desire. This is also a great time for exploring your creativity, learning more about your passion, and focusing on positive transformation.

The next phase is the full moon, and that is the time of the cycle when the moon is completely and entirely lit up to us. We can see the entire circular shape of the moon, and you may notice that during this time your emotions could be a bit heightened. This is entirely justified, seeing as the moon itself has everything to do with our emotions. This is make-or-break time. What you have cast on the night of the new moon should be coming to fruition now. If it doesn’t completely come to a head, you should be receiving a strong sign that what you’ve wished for is on its way. If you tend to be a moon-sensitive kind of person, and not everyone is, you may feel quite anxious and wound up at this time. That is because your body is aware of the natural cycle and rhythms of the moon, and knows that it is at the climax of its current cycle.

The next moon phase is the waning moon, and that is when the moon will appear to be “lessening.” This is the time for cleansing yourself and your space in a physical, and energetic way. Smudge your home and yourself, set clearing and cleansing crystals all around as well. Perform spell work that is focused on releasing anything that no longer serves you. This could be spell work to release your feelings for someone that no longer appreciates you, and it would also be the right time to release the pain from old wounds that may still be affecting you. You will also notice that when you work with the cycles of the moon, your body won’t feel like it is resisting as much. Everything will flow easier, and the more that you accept life for what it is, the better it will be for the health of your spiritual, emotional, and physical self.

Finally, we will examine the dark moon, which some people tend to confuse with the new moon. The dark moon is when the moon is entirely black in appearance. This is the time to heal, surrender, and soothe yourself. It is also the perfect time for divination work. This moon phase will happen exactly before the new moon, and then the cycle will repeat. Take the time during this moment to work on reflecting over the past cycle. Work on letting go and moving on if necessary. Relax and regroup if need be as well. This way, when the new cycle begins you will be prepared for aligning yourself with your new goals and desires.

I hope this has been a good introduction to the moon phases, and if you have any questions or comments please don’t hesitate to contact me at http://wildwood-creations.net. Brightest blessings my soul sisters and brothers!
